New Microsoft Flight Simulator time!

I’ve waited 14 years for this. Given my current employment state I probably shouldn’t have bought it, but since I’m grounded for multiple medical reasons this is probably about as close to flying again as I’m going to get without buying time in a commercial simulator.

I feel like garbage right now. It reminds me of when I was on chemo - nausea and cramping, not knowing if eating was going to make things better or worse. I want to wait for this thing to install, but it might still be a few hours ago I might as well go to sleep. I’ll set up TeamViewer so I can check progress from upstairs, and come down when it’s ready regardless of the hour...

I just hope my ISP doesn’t pull the same crap I get on a daily basis, namely blocking my connection for a few minutes whenever I seem to have used a large amount of data. Everything stops - Google Home control, downloads, video, music. I guess unlimited data is getting somewhat like a cell phone where they slow you down if you use a lot of data. I’m not really being slowed down, just blocked for a few minutes several times a day that screws up my connections and requires restarting transfers. Damn annoying.

Good luck! Install process doesn’t seem to go s o smooth for many people. But it’s worth the effort. I’m out flying for real for the first time in 5 months, so I don’t have the time to try it out, but was in the alpha and beta and loved it. Definitely needs 3rd party addons still, but as a new base sim it is great.

I’d just like to say that this post didn’t exist when I posted mine. Good that we are both excited though!

No problems here, except that it decided to use the wrong audio output by default.

It took a while to get the basics of my joystick assigned. Install went off without a hitch, sort of. It’s installed and running, but not the version I paid for; it’s a known issue and they’re already working on it. So far my opinion of it is pretty good, but I’m going to have to re-learn decades of familiar keystroke commands. I guess I’d better get busy building that cockpit radio/autopilot/switchbox thingy I designed...

I amy have started my post before yours, but since I wrote more it took longer to post. From what I’ve seen the messages are apparently posted by when you started them, not by when you hit ‘publish’ (or maybe not - it’s Kinja, so no clue...)

Yeah, post times are from when the post is started (unless you reset it or schedule it for a specific time). Posts also may not appear for a few minutes after they’ve been published.

It’s true that on my first flight with a joystick, I discovered I had no idea where the brake button was which made things interesting after landing. Fortunately, my pride was saved by a long runway. Wish DirectX had the ability to provide custom button names, so instead of telling me that brake is “Joystick button 5", it would tell me based on how it’s labeled on the stick (even if I had to go into settings and set that up once per controller) .
